Technical Description
The Komatsu PC88MR-8 is a compact hydraulic excavator engineered for high performance and versatility in confined and urban job sites. It operates with a powerful 65 horsepower (49 kW) turbocharged, water-cooled, 4-cylinder Komatsu engine running at 1950 rpm, delivering efficient power and low emissions. Weighing approximately 18,558 lbs (8,420 kg), the PC88MR-8 features a tight tail swing design for enhanced maneuverability in restricted spaces. The excavator's boom and stick configuration allows a maximum digging depth of 15.2 feet (4.62 meters) and a maximum reach along the ground of 23.5 feet (7.15 meters), making it suitable for a wide range of excavation tasks.
The machine is equipped with a hydrostatic transmission, variable displacement axial piston hydraulic pumps, and an auxiliary hydraulic flow rated at 160 liters per minute for smooth operation and attachment versatility. Its undercarriage includes 450 mm triple grouser tracks that provide stability and low ground pressure (approx. 0.37 kg/cm²), ideal for diverse terrains. The PC88MR-8 supports multiple working modes (Power, Economy, Lifting, Breaker, and Attachment modes) to optimize fuel efficiency and productivity depending on job requirements.
Operator comfort is assured with a spacious cab, suspension seat, multi-function color monitor, and climate control, while safety features include ROPS, seat belts, and rearview mirrors. The excavator also incorporates Komatsu's KOMTRAX® telematics system for remote monitoring, maintenance, and machine management. With a bucket capacity range of 0.09 to 0.34 m³ and a bucket breakout force of approximately 61.3 kN, the PC88MR-8 balances power, precision, and durability for efficient mid-sized excavation projects.
