The TAKAMAZ XY-1000 is a dual-spindle horizontal machining center designed for complex, simultaneous multi-axis turning and milling operations. It features two main spindles, each with a 6" chuck diameter and capable of handling bar stock up to 1.63" in diameter, with maximum turning length of 15". Both spindles run at up to 5,000 RPM, powered by 10 HP motors. The machine incorporates two turrets as primary and secondary tool carriers, each supporting up to 12 turning tools and 12 rotary tools. Rotary tools have a 5 HP motor and can run at speeds up to 4,000 RPM. The XY-1000 supports simultaneous use of two cutting tools, enabling efficient multi-tasking and reducing cycle times. It operates with 6-axis control, upgradeable to 7 axes for more complex machining capabilities. Travel lengths include 6.4" on the X axis and 17.72" on the Z axis, providing adequate work envelope for medium-sized parts. This configuration allows advanced multi-spindle and multitasking machining with high rigidity, precision, and flexibility for turning and milling operations in a single setup, suitable for high-mix, low-to-medium volume production requiring precise complex geometries.
