Technical Description
The ACRA 2290 is a precision gap bed engine lathe designed for heavy-duty production and toolroom applications. This manual machine features a 22-inch swing over bed with a 31-inch swing in the gap, accommodating workpieces up to 90 inches between centers. The lathe is powered by a robust 15 HP motor operating at 220V, 3-phase power, delivering spindle speeds from 13 to 1,200 RPM across 12 steps. With a D1-11 spindle nose and MT No. 7 x MT No. 5 taper, it provides versatile tooling compatibility. The machine includes both a 15-inch 3-jaw chuck and 19-inch 4-jaw chuck for flexible workholding. The cross slide travels 15.75 inches while the compound slide offers 9.5-inch travel, enabling precise threading and feeding capabilities from 2-72 TPI in inches and 0.2-14 mm in metric. The tailstock features a two-speed design with an MT No. 5 taper and 7-inch quill travel. A Newall C80 digital readout system enhances positioning accuracy and productivity. The precision-ground bedways are hardened to HRC 48-55, supporting a 7,000-pound cast iron frame stress-relieved for vibration absorption. Complete with a coolant system, halogen lighting, full splash guard, and steady rest, this lathe delivers industrial-grade reliability for demanding turning operations.
