Technical Description
The Burkhardt+Weber MCX 1200 horizontal machining center is a high-performance machine designed for heavy-duty precision manufacturing. It features a robust table measuring 39.37 inches by 49.21 inches, supporting workpieces up to 15,400 lbs. The machine’s spindle is horizontally oriented with an HSK-A 100 taper, capable of 5,500 RPM standard and optionally 10,000 RPM, powered by a 49.3 HP motor with an optional upgrade to 80 HP, enabling high torque and speed for a variety of machining tasks.
Equipped with an automatic tool changer (ATC) carrying 120 tools as standard, expandable up to 570 tools, it achieves fast tool change times of about 12 seconds, improving machining efficiency. The machine supports up to two pallets with optional expansion to eight pallets for enhanced production flexibility.
This center operates on 3 axes (X, Y, Z) with an optional 4th axis, offering travel dimensions of 110.24" (X), 70.87" (Y, optionally 86.61"), and 70.87" (Z, optionally 82.68"). Rapid traverse rates reach up to 1,768 inches per minute, facilitating quick positioning and cycle times. A full 360° B-axis rotation is integrated for complex part handling and machining.
Overall, the MCX 1200 combines heavy load capacity, precise multi-axis motion, powerful spindle capabilities, and extensive tooling options, making it suitable for demanding horizontal machining applications across aerospace, automotive, and heavy equipment sectors. Optional rotary tables and pallet changers further enhance its versatility.
