Technical Description
The Caterpillar 988K XE is a high-performance large wheel loader engineered for demanding quarry and mining operations. It features a Cat C18 ACERT engine with a bore of 5.7 in (145 mm), stroke of 7.2 in (183 mm), and displacement of 1,105 cu in (18.1 L), delivering 580 hp (433 kW) gross power at 1,500 rpm and 541 hp (403 kW) net power, meeting U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage IV emissions standards. The loader is equipped with a Cat switched reluctance electric drive transmission, providing efficient power delivery and precise control. Front axles are fixed with a 13° oscillation angle, while the rear uses a trunnion design.
