Technical Description
The DMG DMF 360 is a precision 5-axis horizontal machining center engineered for complex component fabrication. This traveling column machine features a robust work envelope with an X-axis travel of 141.7 inches (3,600 mm), Y-axis travel of 43.3 inches (1,100 mm), and Z-axis travel of 35.4 inches (899 mm), accommodating large, intricate workpieces up to 11,023 pounds. The rigid table measures 165.4 x 43.3 inches with a maximum load capacity of 2,645 pounds at the center, providing stable workholding for demanding applications.
The machine's five controlled axes—X, Y, Z, B, and C—enable simultaneous 5-axis machining with full interpolation capabilities. This configuration includes a swivel milling head with B-axis indexing and an integrated NC rotary table, facilitating complex geometries and multi-face part finishing without repositioning. The spindle operates across a range of 20-10,000 rpm (some models up to 20,000 rpm) with CAT 40 or CT50 taper, delivering 48 kW spindle motor power and 294 Nm torque.
The 120-position automatic tool changer ensures rapid tool selection, minimizing cycle times and maximizing productivity. Control is managed by a Siemens SINUMERIK 840D system with electronic handwheel and advanced programming flexibility. Additional features include thermosymmetric traveling column construction for thermal stability, high-pressure coolant through the spindle, chip conveyor, and integrated tool measuring systems. Rapid traverse rates reach 3,937 inches per minute, with input resolution of 0.01 mm across all axes, ensuring exceptional surface finish and dimensional accuracy for precision-critical aerospace, automotive, and medical device manufacturing.
