Technical Description
The DMG MORI NHX 5000 is a high-rigidity horizontal machining center designed for dynamic, high-precision milling applications with a compact footprint. It features a 19.7" x 19.7" table capable of supporting up to 1,543 lbs workpieces. The machine operates with 4 axes (X: 28.7", Y: 28.7", Z: 34.6") delivering rapid traverse rates up to 2,364 ipm, supporting efficient material removal and high productivity. The standard horizontal spindle delivers 29.5 HP (30 min rating) with speeds up to 15,000 rpm, optionally reaching 20,000 rpm for high-speed machining; it integrates powerful torque for stable cutting performance. The machining center incorporates a 40-station automatic tool changer (ATC), expandable up to 240 tools, providing flexibility for complex machining sequences. A rotary table is included as standard, enhancing part positioning and machining versatility. The machine supports optional pallet changers for increased automation. The NHX 5000 combines a thick, high-rigidity bed and large-diameter spindle bearings for enhanced stability and precision during cutting operations. It is equipped with advanced control systems, including CELOS or Siemens-based controls, facilitating precise motion control with direct scale feedback at 0.01 µm resolution. Feed rates and acceleration capabilities support up to 60,000 mm/min feed drives and 1.2 g acceleration, enabling fast, precise machining cycles. Designed for automotive and general mechanical production, the NHX 5000 balances stiffness, speed, and accuracy, making it suitable for small to large series manufacturing of aluminum, steel, titanium, and composite materials.
