A+Technical Description
This vertical machining center features a robust 51.2" x 26.4" table capable of supporting workpieces up to 2,204 lbs, suitable for heavy-duty machining tasks. It operates on a 3-axis system (X: 50", Y: 26.4", Z: 24.6") with rapid traverse rates up to 1,417 inches per minute and a maximum feed rate of 590 inches per minute on each axis. The vertical spindle incorporates a Big Plus #40 dual contact taper system, ensuring enhanced tool rigidity and machining accuracy by simultaneous face and taper contact, minimizing deflection and improving tool life. The spindle runs at a top speed of 8,000 RPM, with an optional upgrade to 12,000 RPM, powered by a 24.8 HP motor rated for 30 minutes. Tool handling includes an automatic tool changer (ATC) with a standard capacity of 30 tools, extendable to 40 tools optionally, with fast 1.3-second tool change and 3.9-second chip-to-chip times. There is no U-axis for additional rotary axis control; however, a rotary table option is available. Optional features include pallet changers to increase automation and productivity. This configuration is optimized for precision and heavy-duty milling, drilling, and boring operations commonly required in aerospace, automotive, and heavy machinery industries. The Big Plus spindle system’s simultaneous dual contact considerably enhances stability and repeatability during high-speed machining and automatic tool changes, making it ideal for demanding machining environments needing tight tolerances and surface finish quality.
