Technical Description

The DN Solutions HP 5500 is a high-performance horizontal machining center designed for precision and productivity. It features a robust 24.8" x 24.8" work table capable of supporting workpieces up to 1,763 lbs. The machine operates on three axes (X, Y, Z) with travels of 31.5", 27.6", and 29.5" respectively, and rapid traverse rates of 1,889 inches per minute on all axes, enabling efficient handling of large components. Its CAT #50 horizontal spindle delivers up to 10,000 RPM with a 30 HP 30-minute rating, offering powerful, high-speed cutting capabilities suitable for demanding machining operations. Equipped with a 40-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) standard, the system supports rapid tool changes in 2 seconds and chip-to-chip tool changes in 4.9 seconds, boosting cycle efficiency. The ATC capacity can be optionally expanded up to 196 tools, allowing for complex and varied machining jobs without frequent tool reloading. An optional pallet changer supports two pallets for increased workflow automation. The machine uses a CNC control system (commonly Fanuc 18i-MB), supporting optional expansion to a fourth controlled axis but no U axis. Its rigid one-piece bed structure and step guideways enhance stability and accuracy during high-speed machining. Overall, the HP 5500 offers a versatile horizontal machining solution, optimized for medium to large workpieces with high-speed, high-precision capabilities suited for demanding manufacturing environments.
