Technical Description
The FFG MAG SPECHT 500 DUO is a high-performance horizontal machining center featuring a dual horizontal spindle configuration with HSK-A-63 taper spindles, optionally up to HSK-100, running at 16,000 RPM with a 33.3 HP motor (30-min rating). It has a robust 23.6" x 23.6" worktable supporting up to 1,100 lbs, with an optional smaller table size of 23.6" x 19.69". The machine operates on a modular 3-axis system (X, Y, Z) with optional 4-axis capability, providing travels of 24.8" in X and Y, and 33.85" (optionally 35.43") in Z, each axis allowing rapid traverse speeds up to 2,358 ipm. The spindle axes have dynamic axis compensation (X/Y/Z) to synchronize the dual spindles, delivering single-spindle level precision and temperature compensation for consistent accuracy.
Equipped with an automatic tool changer (ATC), the unit supports 48 tools standard, scalable to 128 tools, achieving tool change times as low as 3.2 seconds to maximize production efficiency. Pallet changers are standard with 2 pallets, with an option for up to 4, facilitating uninterrupted machining and flexible loading. The system’s architecture supports advanced machining applications such as automotive cylinder heads, blocks, and housings, with a compact footprint of 11.2 m², suitable for both standalone and multi-machine manufacturing cells. The high dynamic performance with rapid traverse and acceleration up to 120 m/min and 1.5 m/s² along with modular configurability for tooling, control systems (Siemens or Fanuc), and loading concepts yield a versatile, precise, and productive machining solution for medium to large components in volume production environments.
