Technical Description
The Handtmann HBZ CompactCell is a high-performance 5-axis horizontal machining center designed for efficient, high-speed milling of large aluminum structural parts. It features a robust table measuring 78.74" x 39.37", with an optional extension increase to 157.48" in length, supporting workpieces up to 56,000 lbs. The machine operates with a powerful 108 HP horizontal spindle rated for 30,000 rpm, using an HSK 63 A taper to ensure precision and rigidity during cutting. The spindle leverages high-speed cutting capabilities to achieve exceptional material removal rates and short cycle times.
Equipped with a 50-tool Automatic Tool Changer (ATC), expandable to 100 tools, the CompactCell maximizes flexibility and productivity across diverse machining tasks. It features five axes with travels of 183.07" (X), 43.31" (Y), and 21.65" (Z), all capable of rapid traverse rates up to 2,362 inches per minute, supporting dynamic, complex geometries and simultaneous multi-axis operations.
The horizontal configuration optimizes chip evacuation for continuous, efficient machining. The machine’s compact footprint negates the need for special foundations, making it adaptable to various production environments. While it lacks integrated pallet changer or rotary table support, its design prioritizes high-throughput aluminum structure machining, making it especially suited for aerospace components and large structural parts manufacturing.
Overall, the HBZ CompactCell combines high spindle power, high feed rates, and five-axis precision in a compact, robust frame, delivering high productivity for complex, large-scale milling applications.
