Technical Description
The Handtmann HBZ TRUNNION 160 is a premium 5-axis horizontal machining center engineered for high-precision, high-performance machining of large workpieces up to 1,700 mm in diameter and 1,000 mm in height. It features a rigid, compact machine design with a double drive system and dual clamping for enhanced stability and accuracy. The machine’s horizontal spindle utilizes an HSK 63 A taper, with an optional HSK 100 A, reaching a top speed of 30,000 rpm and a 30-minute rated power of 21 kW, optionally upgradeable to 209 kW to accommodate heavy-duty cutting of materials such as aluminum, steel, and titanium. The 38-tool automatic tool changer can be expanded to 200 tools, supporting versatile machining operations without interruption.
Its axes travel extensively with 65.75" in X, 53.15" in Y, and 43.31" in Z, all capable of rapid traverse rates up to 2,362 inches per minute, allowing fast positioning and reduced cycle times. The machine supports dynamic 5-axis simultaneous machining with high acceleration (up to 5 m/s²) and travel speeds reaching 60 m/min for superior surface finishes and efficient chip removal inherent to horizontal machining centers.
The table dimensions of approximately 63” x 63” accommodate heavy loads with maximum table capacities up to 2.8 tons, enabling the machining of large structural and aerospace components. Control options include Siemens 840D SL or Heidenhain TNC640, providing flexible, precise, and user-friendly operation tailored for demanding manufacturing environments. This machine is ideal for aerospace, automotive, mold and die, and energy sector applications requiring complex, accurate, and dynamic machining of diverse materials.
