Technical Description
The Heller FP 8000 is a high-performance 5-axis horizontal machining center designed for flexible, precision series production. It features a large work table measuring 31.4" x 31.4" capable of supporting workpieces up to 4,400 lbs, with a standard rotary table for enhanced versatility. The machining center is equipped with a horizontal spindle using an HSK-A100 taper, delivering 8,000 RPM top speed with an optional upgrade to 12,500 RPM, powered by an 80 HP motor (optionally 106 HP). The 5-axis configuration includes linear travels of 49.2" (X), 47.2" (Y), and 55.1" (Z), along with rotary axes A (195°) and B (360°), allowing complex multi-sided machining with high precision.
Tooling capacity is robust with a 54-tool automatic tool changer, expandable up to 400 tools, and a chip-to-chip time of 6.3 seconds, ensuring efficient tool management and reduced cycle times. The machine incorporates a pallet changer system with two pallets standard, enabling quick workpiece exchange and increasing throughput. Rapid traverse rates of up to 1,965 inches per minute in all linear axes support fast positioning for high productivity.
Structurally, the FP 8000 features a cross-bed machine design with a gantry-style column, optimized cast iron construction, and topology-optimized components for maximum rigidity and stability under heavy loads. The spindle has a gearbox unit delivering up to 1,146 Nm torque for heavy-duty cutting on cast iron, steel, and titanium. Additional options include a hydraulic clamping interface and enhanced spindle speeds with the Speed Cutting Unit. This machining center balances precision, power, and flexibility, ideal for demanding 5-axis machining applications in various industries.
