Technical Description
The Heller Machine Tools H 4000 is a 4-axis horizontal machining center designed for high-precision, high-performance metal machining. It features a large worktable measuring 19.68" x 24.8" capable of supporting up to 1,760 lbs, enabling stable machining of sizable workpieces. The spindle is horizontally oriented with an HSK-A63 taper, offering a standard maximum speed of 10,000 RPM with an optional upgrade to 16,000 RPM. Power output is 22.6 HP (30-minute rating) with an optional increase to 53 HP, supporting demanding cutting operations.
This machine incorporates a 54-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) as standard, expandable to 400 tools, minimizing tool change times to approximately 2.8 seconds for enhanced productivity. The included standard pallet changer carries two pallets, facilitating continuous machining sequences and reduced idle times.
The machining center operates on four axes (X, Y, Z linear axes each with 31.5" travel and a full 360° B-axis rotary table), driven with high feed rates up to 3,537 IPM rapid traverse, ensuring dynamic motion and quick positioning. The rotary table features a high-rigidity YRT bearing with automatic clamping to provide precise rotation and tilting moments.
Robust, topology-optimized cast iron construction ensures high structural stability, excellent damping, and thermal stability, critical for maintaining machining accuracy under heavy loads. Direct absolute linear encoders allow minimal positioning uncertainty. The system is engineered for short chip-to-chip times, high process stability, and 24/7 production reliability, supporting series production and integration into flexible manufacturing systems. The H 4000 is ideal for small to medium batch sizes, especially where large, heavy parts and complex 4-axis machining are required.
