Technical Description
The INDEX TRAUB MS40-8 is a high-performance horizontal CNC multi-spindle machining center designed for high-volume precision manufacturing. Featuring eight main spindles, each capable of reaching up to 7,000 rpm and delivering 17 horsepower, the MS40-8 ensures rapid and efficient machining of complex parts. The machine supports a maximum main spindle turning diameter of 1.570 inches and a bar diameter of 1.600 inches, making it suitable for a wide range of workpiece sizes. Its advanced configuration includes up to two back-working spindles for rear-end machining, as well as up to 18 CNC slides (X, Z, and optional Y axes) for versatile tooling and simultaneous operations. The MS40-8 utilizes fluid-cooled motorized spindles with synchronized technology, providing high rigidity, precision, and reliability. The compact spindle drum design, combined with a three-piece Hirth coupling, ensures maximum accuracy and stability during operation. The machine is equipped with a fully configurable tool carrier system, allowing for up to 14 tool carriers with 1, 2, or 3 axes, and a back-drilling slide with up to 7 tools, including 4 driven tools for face machining. The integrated 3-axis linear shuttle enables seamless, damage-free workpiece extraction and handling. The MS40-8 is controlled via Siemens S840D sl CNC, featuring a multi-touch screen interface for intuitive operation. With its robust construction, generous work area, and advanced automation capabilities, the MS40-8 is ideal for demanding applications in automotive, aerospace, fastener, and connector industries, delivering exceptional productivity, surface quality, and tool life.
