The JCB 409 is a compact wheel loader engineered for high productivity and maneuverability in confined spaces. Powered by a 4-cylinder, turbocharged JCB Diesel by Kohler KDI 2504 TCR engine with electronic common rail fuel injection, it delivers 74 hp (55 kW) at 2,200 rpm and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque at 1,500 rpm, meeting Tier 4 Final and Stage 3A emissions standards. The hydrostatic transmission provides smooth, responsive control with a maximum forward speed of 12.5 mph (19 kph). The loader features a rated bucket capacity of 1.3 cu yds (1 m³), a heaped capacity of 1.4 cu yds (1 m³), and a breakout force of 12,094.8 lbs (5,486 kg).
