Technical Description
The Mazak FH8800 is a high-performance horizontal machining center designed for precision and versatility in heavy-duty manufacturing environments such as aerospace, automotive, and industrial machinery sectors. It features substantial axis travels of approximately 51 inches (X-axis), 43 inches (Y-axis), and 39 inches (Z-axis), providing a large working envelope suitable for machining sizable and complex parts. The machine is equipped with a powerful 30 to 40 kW spindle motor, capable of speeds up to 7,000 to 10,000 RPM, utilizing a CAT 50 spindle taper, which ensures optimal performance across a wide range of materials including aluminum, steel, titanium, and other difficult-to-cut alloys.
With an 80-tool automatic tool changer, the FH8800 supports extended machining cycles and rapid tool changes to boost productivity and minimize downtime. The machine’s pallet measures roughly 800 x 800 mm (31.9" x 31.9") and supports a maximum workpiece weight of up to 2,200 kg, enabling heavy and large-scale operations. Its advanced Mazatrol Fusion 640M CNC control system offers sophisticated programming capabilities, high-speed positioning driven by preloaded, ball-screw-driven axes with cooling oil circulation, and precise control, which enhances machining accuracy at high feed rates. The structure features linear roller guides on all axes and a unique column and bed design to maintain high rigidity and thermal stability for consistent accuracy. Additional features include full 4th axis continuous indexing, a chip conveyor, and options for thru-spindle coolant at 1,000 PSI, further supporting complex, high-volume production needs. Overall, the FH8800 delivers robust reliability, high torque, and precision machining tailored for demanding industrial applications.
