Technical Description
The 2015 OKK HMC 500 is a high-performance horizontal machining center designed for precision and heavy-duty machining applications. It features a robust table measuring 19.7" x 19.7" (500mm x 500mm) capable of supporting a maximum load of 1,543 lbs (700 kg), accommodating sizable workpieces up to approximately 31.5 inches (800mm) in diameter. The machine offers generous travel distances with X and Y axes both at 29.9" (760mm) and Z-axis travel of 31.5" (800mm), complemented by a B-axis rotary table with 0.001° indexing precision for multi-axis machining capabilities.
The spindle is equipped with a CAT 40 tool holder, powered by a 50 horsepower motor capable of speeds up to 15,000 rpm, allowing for high-speed and high-precision cutting. The spindle design supports high-rigidity and thermal stability, facilitating machining of various materials including aluminum, steel, and cast metals, essential for aerospace, automotive, and general industrial applications.
This model incorporates a 60-station automatic tool changer (ATC), enabling extended machining cycles with minimal intervention, and rapid tool change times typically around 2.9 seconds. The control system is the Fanuc 31i-MB CNC, which supports advanced programming features, interactive manual guide, coordinate system rotation, and tool life management, enhancing operational efficiency and flexibility.
Additional features include high-pressure coolant delivered through the spindle (up to 1,000 psi) for improved chip evacuation and tool cooling, a chip conveyor system, and robust structural components such as a wide column and high-rigidity roller guides to ensure precision under heavy cutting loads. Rapid traverse rates reach up to 63 m/min (2,480 in/min), enabling fast positioning and short non-cutting times, while maintaining accuracy and surface finish quality. This combination of speed, rigidity, and control makes the OKK HMC 500 ideal for complex multi-axis machining tasks requiring precision and throughput.
