The POREBA TCF 224 is a heavy-duty centre lathe engineered for precision machining of large-scale workpieces, particularly shafts and similar components. Equipped with a SIEMENS Sprint 8T CNC control system, this machine delivers automated, precise, and productive rough and finish machining capabilities. The lathe features a robust 3-guideway bed construction with a maximum spindle torque of 40,000 Nm, accommodating workpieces weighing up to 30 tonnes between centres. With a maximum swing over bed of 2,240 mm and a spindle bore of 105 mm, the machine provides exceptional capacity for large-diameter turning operations. The spindle operates across a wide speed range from 0.5 to 250 RPM across 16 steps, with rapid longitudinal travel reaching 6,000 mm/min and cross-travel at 4,000 mm/min. The machine is equipped with a 1,600 mm diameter 4-jaw chuck, steady rest, heavy-duty tool post, and integrated coolant system for efficient chip removal and tool cooling. Standard features include a tailstock with 280 mm quill diameter, dead centres, linear measuring scales for X and Z axes, and comprehensive documentation for operations and maintenance. The TCF 224's modular design allows for optional enhancements including automatic 8-position turret with live tools, controlled Y and C axes, tool and workpiece measuring systems, and air conditioning for electrical components. With 75-110 kW power output at 380V/50Hz, this versatile machine operates as both a dedicated turning centre and, with special equipment, as a horizontal machining centre with drilling and milling capabilities.
