A+Technical Description
The RAFAMET TOK 80 N is a special-purpose horizontal lathe specifically engineered for turning of railway wheelset axles. This CNC-controlled machine tool delivers automatic, precise, and productive workpiece machining according to programmed technological specifications, enabling both rough and finish machining of worn and new axles. The machine features a robust slant bed constructed from high-grade cast iron with enhanced mechanical properties, standardized and heavily ribbed with four guideways made of hardened and ground steel blocks. The carriage travels along two guideways, ensuring precise guidance, with longitudinal and cross-wise movements along guideways lined with anti-friction material and assisted by a central lubrication system. Key specifications include an 800 mm swing over bed, 670 mm swing over carriage, and maximum distance between centers of 3,000 mm. The spindle bore diameter measures 95 mm with a continuously variable rotation rate range of 4 to 800 RPM, powered by a 39 kW main drive motor capable of producing 3,250 Nm maximum torque. The X-axis (cross-wise) travel capacity is 118.11 inches (410 mm), while longitudinal (Z-axis) travel reaches 3,000 mm at a maximum traverse rate of 5,000 mm/min. The machine incorporates an 8-position automatic turret tool system and can be optionally equipped with burnishing attachments, rotary tools, and measuring systems. It performs operations including journal turning, axle body machining, radii and chamfering, burnishing, facing, centering, drilling, and tapping.
