A+Technical Description
The SAKAI R2H-4 is a static smooth drum roller designed for superior asphalt compaction performance. Featuring an articulated center-point steering and an all-drum hydrostatic drive, it ensures uniform compaction with equal static linear pressure of 355 pli across its 83-inch total rolling width. The roller is equipped with dual front drums measuring 22 inches wide by 64 inches in diameter and a single rear drum 43 inches wide by 64 inches in diameter, enabling a smooth, dense asphalt finish and minimizing pushing or shoving of hot mix asphalt. Powered by a Tier 4 Final Kubota V3307-CR diesel engine delivering 73 horsepower at 2200 rpm, the machine combines high compaction power with fuel efficiency and reliable performance. With an operating weight of approximately 30,955 lbs, the roller provides ample static force on the pavement surface. It includes a 26.4-gallon diesel fuel tank and a 179.6-gallon water tank for the drum spray system to prevent asphalt adhesion. Safety features include emergency brakes and excellent operator visibility. The R2H-4’s rugged build, chamfered drum edges, heavy-duty center hitch, and hydrostatic braking system contribute to durability and operational control on highway paving, municipal roads, and finish rolling applications. Its ease of maintenance with ground-level access to engine and hydraulic components enhances uptime and serviceability, making it suitable for various compaction tasks requiring consistent smoothness and density.
