Technical Description
The TOS KURIM FFD Horizontal Machining Center is a robust, high-precision machine designed for demanding milling and boring operations on large and heavy workpieces. Featuring a horizontal spindle with a 50 taper and a maximum speed of 4,000 RPM, it delivers reliable performance for complex machining tasks. The spindle is rated at 35 HP (30-minute rating), providing ample power for heavy-duty cutting. The machine is equipped with a double-arm tool carrier, supporting up to 40 tools as standard, with an optional expansion to 90 tools for increased flexibility. The FFD model offers three primary axes (X, Y, Z), with optional fourth-axis capability, and features a movable column design for enhanced workspace utilization. Standard travel ranges are 165" (X), 39" (Y), and 55" (Z), with extended options available up to 519" (X), 49" (Y), and 98" (Z), making it suitable for a wide range of part sizes. Maximum feed rates and rapid traverse speeds reach 300 and 400 IPM, respectively, across all axes, ensuring efficient material removal and reduced cycle times. The work support system allows for optional index and rotary tables, enabling versatile workpiece positioning and multi-sided machining. Built with a modular concept, the FFD center is ideal for heavy mechanical engineering, power generation, and large-scale manufacturing applications, where precision, rigidity, and adaptability are critical.
