The Skeena Cellulose Mill was a large pulp mill with a kraft pulping operation capable of producing over 1,000 tons per day. The facility had updated its equipment including: the installation of a state-of-the-art CLO2 Plant, O2 Delignification Towers, and a major overhaul of the Kamyr Continuous Digestors. The site location has a transportation infrastructure supporting port, railway, and truck access.

NRI Industrial, the sales division of NRI Global, will be hosting the auction of the assets on NRI is a Canadian-based asset management firm that acquires and provides turn-key solutions for distressed assets. They have been contracted by the city of Prince Rupert to manage the orderly removal of assets and decommissioning of a substantial portion of the Watson Island Pulp Mill to be able to redevelop the land for future economic use.
