The 2014 Struers Hexamatic is a fully automatic laboratory specimen preparation machine designed for the high-efficiency grinding and polishing of metallographic specimens. This system is capable of processing both individual specimens and specimen holders using central or individual force application. It features a plane grinding station that can utilize either a grinding stone or a diamond grinding disc, supported by a 50-liter recirculation cooling unit. The machine incorporates an automatic elevator for disc exchange, storing up to eight different preparation surfaces that are swapped according to the selected preparation method. An integrated automatic dresser maintains the grinding stone at pre-defined intervals. For consumables, the unit includes a bottle compartment housing eight bottles for suspensions and lubricants, equipped with weighing cells for continuous monitoring and automated consumption calculations. Cleaning is handled by two independent chambers: an ultrasonic cleaning chamber with automatic liquid exchange and a traditional cleaning station utilizing water, soap, alcohol, and compressed air. The system is operated via a 17-inch touch screen interface and is powered by a built-in PC. Additional features include a beacon for status indication and LAN connectivity for remote diagnostics and software updates.
