The Struers Hexamatic is a fully automatic lab preparation machine designed for grinding and polishing of individual specimens and specimen holders. It features one plane grinding station and one fine grinding/polishing station with eight exchangeable preparation surfaces via automatic disc exchange and includes an automatic dresser. The system handles one to six specimens individually or up to eight holders or mover plates with automatic conveyor and sensor detection. The machine includes a 50 litre recirculation cooling unit, centralized lubrication, and bottom-mounted chip extraction. Control is via built-in PC with 17″ touch screen, keyboard, and mouse. The system features eight bottle positions for suspensions and lubricants with continuous weight monitoring, automatic dosing, and switchover. Additional features include monitoring of consumable life, ultrasonic cleaning with automatic liquid exchange, traditional cleaning with water, soap, alcohol, and compressed air, hot air drying, and remote diagnostics. The machine uses 270 mm diameter grinding stones and includes specimen holders (140 mm diameter), specimen mover plates, and tooling as photographed. Electrical requirements include 3 x 200-240 V / 50/60 Hz, 3 x 380-415 V / 50/60 Hz, or 3 x 460-480 V / 60 Hz.
