The Radicon ERU10-30/1-L is a heavy-duty single-reduction underdriven worm gear unit from the ER series, designed as a direct replacement for David Brown series A units. This specific model features a 10-inch center distance and a 30:1 reduction ratio. The unit is constructed with a rugged, oil-tight, and dust-proof close-grain cast iron gear case, suitable for outdoor installation. Its internal components include a case-hardened alloy steel worm, carburized and ground for precision, and a centrifugally cast phosphor-bronze worm wheel rim shrink-fitted onto a cast iron center. The shafts are supported by high-capacity taper roller bearings to manage significant journal and thrust loads. Lubrication is provided via an oil splash system from the sump, and cooling is achieved through a polypropylene or metal fan directing airflow over the ribbed housing.
