The Lightning Eliminators RGA750V2 retractable grounding assembly is a safety device engineered for floating roof tanks (FRT) in the petrochemical industry. Its primary function is to establish a permanent, low-impedance electrical bond between the moving tank roof and the tank shell, thereby preventing lightning-induced rim fires. The assembly incorporates a retractable, 3-inch wide, braided stainless steel cable that ensures a continuous electrical path regardless of the roof’s height. This design provides an impedance of less than 10 milliohms, mitigating the risk of arcing and contact loss prevalent with traditional shunts due to rust and wax buildup.
