The Procunier Model 3 is a high-speed, style E tapping head designed for precision workholding and toolholding applications. It features a balanced, heat-treated gear reversing mechanism that minimizes strain and wear while providing a 2:1 reverse ratio, allowing it to reverse at twice the forward speed to increase productivity. The unit is housed in aluminum for strength and rigidity with minimal weight and utilizes bronze bushings at wear points to support the spindle from the shank to the chuck. For smooth operation and automatic tap protection, it incorporates an extremely sensitive double cone friction clutch that engages conical surfaces with a cushioned action. This heavy-duty tapping attachment is equipped with a 2MT or 3MT shank and is precision-built with double row ball bearings for rigid support. Its technical capacities include a tapping range from #10 up to 1/2 inch in steel, 5/8 inch in cast iron, and up to 3/4 inch in soft materials such as aluminum or brass.
