Technical Description

The Alzmetall GS 1200 is a heavy-duty vertical machining center engineered for precision hybrid machining applications including drilling, milling, turning, and grinding operations. Built with an extreme rigid integral basic body constructed from grey cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron, the machine features an ALZMETALL-Gantry-Concept (AGK) design that delivers exceptional structural stability and thermal consistency at the tool center point. The machine accommodates workpieces up to 6,600 lbs on its large worktable available in sizes of 47.2" × 43.3" or 35.43" × 35.43". The 5-axis configuration provides X, Y, and Z travels of 39.3", 47.2", and 31.4" respectively, with an A-axis swivel range of ±140 degrees, enabling complex multi-sided machining without repositioning. The spindle operates at up to 12,000 rpm (optionally 14,000 rpm) with HSK-A63 taper (HSK-T63 optional) and delivers 39 hp standard power output (53 hp optional), providing substantial cutting capability for aggressive material removal. The machine incorporates 4-fold linear guidance and dual servo-drives on each linear axis for parallel-path precision and thermal stability. The automatic tool changer accommodates 45 tools standard (up to 186 tools optional) with 4-second tool change times. Optional equipment includes rotary tables, high-pressure coolant systems, chip conveyors, coolant filtration, and mist extraction units, with CNC controls via Heidenhain or Siemens systems supporting comprehensive hybrid machining workflows.
