Technical Description

The Burkhardt+Weber MCX 900 is a robust horizontal machining center designed for large and heavy workpieces, enabling high precision and productivity in demanding industrial applications. It features a spacious table measuring 31.49" x 39.37" with a maximum workpiece load capacity of 5,500 lbs, supporting heavy-duty machining requirements. The machine uses a horizontal spindle with an HSK-A 100 taper, capable of reaching speeds up to 5,500 RPM as standard, with an optional upgrade to 10,000 RPM for advanced tooling needs. The spindle delivers 49.3 HP (30-minute rating), ensuring powerful cutting performance. Tool handling is highly flexible, with a standard automatic tool changer (ATC) accommodating 120 tools, expandable optionally to 570 tools, enabling extensive tool variety and long uninterrupted machining processes. The tool change cycle is efficient, taking approximately 11 seconds. A pallet changer system is optionally available, supporting two pallets standard and upgradeable to eight, which enhances workflow and reduces downtime. The machine operates predominantly on three linear axes (X: 62.99", Y: 55.12" or optionally 62.99", Z: 62.99") with rapid traverse rates up to 2,358 inches per minute, facilitating fast and precise machining movements. It also features a 360° rotary B axis for additional machining versatility. Optional 4-axis configurations are available to support more complex machining tasks.
