Technical Description
The Caterpillar CB32 Static Smooth Drum Roller is a compact, versatile compaction machine designed for small to medium-sized projects, such as shoulders, lane additions, and parking lots. It features a 51-inch (1300 mm) wide steel drum, providing a wide compaction path for efficient coverage. The drum operates at two vibratory frequencies, 63 Hz (3,780 vpm) and 55 Hz (3,300 vpm), enabling flexibility across various soil and aggregate types. The static linear load is approximately 69–70 lb/in, contributing to its effective compaction performance. It is powered by a Caterpillar C1.5 liquid-cooled diesel engine delivering around 24.6 kW (33 hp), optimized for fuel efficiency and low emissions with integrated water and oil coolers. The machine weighs about 6,190 to 7,121 lb (2,808 to 3,230 kg), with a maximum machine height around 106 inches (2.7 m), and a compact overall width near 4.3 ft (1.3 m) for easy maneuverability. It has a turning radius inside drum edge of about 8.2 ft (2.49 m), supporting tight operational spaces. The CB32 can travel up to 7.5 mph, making it agile on site. It offers smooth, power-assisted hydraulic steering with a two-step propel lever for precise speed control, especially in confined areas. Water spray tanks hold up to 63.4 gallons (240 L) in total, preventing material adhesion to drums during asphalt compaction. The roll-over protection system (ROPS) is foldable for transport convenience. Overall, the CB32 is engineered for reliable, efficient compaction with enhanced operator control, making it suitable as a standalone or support compactor on various job sites.
