Technical Description

The Caterpillar CB8 is an 8-ton tandem vibratory smooth drum roller designed for efficient asphalt compaction on a variety of mix designs and granular materials. It features 67 in (1700 mm) wide tandem drums with a 43 in drum diameter, providing a standard compaction width of 67 in and a maximum compaction width of 73 in. The machine is powered by a Cat C3.4B engine with ACERT Technology, delivering 100 hp (75 kW) of gross power for reliable performance. It offers a maximum travel speed of 7.5 mph (11 km/h) and a static linear load of 143 lb/in, ensuring consistent compaction results. The CB8’s vibratory system provides independent vibration control per drum (front only, rear only, or both) with a maximum centrifugal force of 17,603 lb per drum and a minimum of 6,789 lb per drum, along with high and low nominal amplitudes of 0.1 in to suit different lift conditions.
