Technical Description

The Caterpillar CS78B is a smooth drum vibratory soil compactor designed for high-performance granular soil compaction. It features a 2134 mm (84 in) wide smooth drum with a 1535 mm (60.4 in) diameter and a standard vibratory frequency of 28 Hz (1680 vpm), providing a maximum centrifugal force of 74,600 lb (335 kN) and a minimum of 37,300 lb (156 kN). The machine offers high and low amplitude settings of 0.083 in (2.1 mm) and 0.039 in (0.98 mm) respectively, with an optional variable frequency range of 23.3–28 Hz (1400–1680 vpm) for optimized compaction control.
