Technical Description

The CHIRON MILL 6000 is a high-precision vertical machining center designed for fast, long-bed production of large workpieces up to 6 meters in length. This CNC-controlled machine features substantial traverse paths with X-axis travel of 236 inches (6,000 mm), Y-axis travel of 24.8 inches (630 mm), and Z-axis travel of 21.6 inches (550 mm), making it ideal for complex machining operations on oversized components. The machine employs a vertical traveling column design that maximizes work area while maintaining compact external dimensions, combined with a sturdy machine bed featuring integrated coolant and chip removal systems. Equipped with a Siemens 840D CNC control system, the MILL 6000 utilizes glass scales and digital drive technology to ensure high accelerations with consistent contour accuracy. The machine accommodates a 92-position tool changer with HSK-A 63 tool taper, delivering chip-to-chip times and spindle speeds up to 20,000 rpm for excellent surface quality. It features an integrated NC swivel head and optional rotary table capabilities, allowing expansion to four or five-axis simultaneous machining for multi-side production. The pendulum machining capability enables loading and unloading during active machining, significantly reducing downtime in production environments. With its robust construction, dynamic direct drives, and precision guides, the MILL 6000 delivers strong milling performance suitable for automotive and aerospace applications, from aluminum and brass machining through high-tensile steels.
