Technical Description

The DMG MORI ALX 2000 is a compact horizontal production turning machine designed for flexible automation in various industrial applications. It features a direct-drive turnMASTER spindle capable of 4,500 RPM with an optional 7,000 RPM configuration, delivering 15 HP and 263 Nm of torque, supported by a 36-month warranty without hourly limits. The machine accommodates workpieces up to 18.1 inches in diameter and 79.4 inches in length, with a maximum bar diameter of 2.6 inches, utilizing an 8-inch chuck for secure workholding. The built-in motor turret (BMT) houses twelve powered tools, enabling complex multi-operation machining capabilities. With a compact footprint of just 29.1 square feet for the 300mm bed length model, the ALX 2000 integrates seamlessly into existing production environments. The machine achieves rapid traverses of up to 30 meters per minute on both X and Z axes, significantly reducing cycle times compared to predecessor models. Its rigid construction employs slideways on the X-axis for superior damping performance and linear motion guides on the Z-axis for enhanced positioning accuracy, delivering 0.4-micrometer precision. The ALX 2000 offers various turning lengths—11.8, 19.7, 39.4, and 78.7 inches—accommodating diverse production requirements. Designed as a base machine for automation, it integrates with gantry loaders or bar feeders for fully automated production, producing 50 to 200 workpieces daily, making it ideal for automotive applications involving housings and shafts.
