A+Technical Description
This vertical table/work support spindle system features a CAT40 Big Plus taper interface, designed for high rigidity and precision in demanding machining applications. The Big Plus system enables simultaneous contact between the tool holder taper and spindle face, significantly increasing toolholder rigidity—up to four times that of a standard CAT40 holder—by anchoring at the larger flange diameter (Ø63.5 mm) rather than the gage line (Ø44.45 mm). This dual-contact design minimizes deflection, improves surface finish, extends tool and spindle life, and enhances ATC repeatability to within 1 micron. The system supports up to 40 tools and is compatible with both Big Plus and standard CAT40 tooling, offering flexibility for various machining needs. The machine operates on three axes (X, Y, Z) with X-axis travel of 41.330" and Z-axis travel of 18.110", providing ample working envelope for a wide range of part sizes. The CAT40 Big Plus taper maintains the standard 7/24 taper angle, ensuring compatibility with existing tooling while delivering the benefits of increased rigidity, reduced chatter, and improved machining accuracy. This configuration is ideal for high-speed, high-precision operations where tool stability and repeatability are critical.
