Technical Description
This CNC machining center features a robust travel envelope with X, Y, and Z axes measuring 20.5", 14.2", and 13.8" respectively, accommodating parts within a 25.6" x 14.8" table pallet size. It employs a high-performance spindle operating at speeds up to 12,000 RPM, powered by a 10 HP motor, and utilizes a CAT 40 BIG-PLUS taper spindle. The BIG-PLUS dual contact spindle system provides simultaneous taper and spindle face contact, significantly enhancing tool rigidity, reducing deflection, improving dimensional accuracy, extending tool and spindle life, and eliminating Z-axis movement during high-speed operations. The 14-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) allows efficient machining workflows, while rapid traverse rates of 1,890 inches per minute (IPM) optimize cycle times.
The machine occupies a floor space of 151.6" (length) x 74.9" (width) x 113" (height) and weighs 14,570 lbs. A 36.22" chip conveyor extension facilitates effective chip removal. The CAT 40 taper features a 7/24 taper angle, ensuring a secure, precise tool-holding interface ideal for milling operations requiring high rigidity and accuracy. The BIG-PLUS system enhances this by closing the typical gap between spindle face and tool holder flange, allowing dual contact that supports greater cutting forces, reduces chatter, and improves repeatability in automatic tool changing. The spindle’s 10 HP power combined with high-speed capability is suitable for machining a wide variety of materials with high precision and surface finish quality. This configuration supports versatile manufacturing tasks, including free-form machining, die components, and mold making, delivering efficiency and precision in a compact footprint.
