Technical Description

The FERMAT WRF 160 HEAVY HORIZONTAL BORING MILL is a floor-type heavy horizontal boring and milling machine engineered for processing large and complex workpieces, primarily in the aerospace, energy, and machinery sectors. Key specifications include a 160 mm (6.30 in) spindle diameter with a maximum spindle speed range of 10–3,000 rpm, powered by a main motor generating up to 60 kW (S6). The machine features substantial travel capacities: the X-axis (column cross travel) can extend up to 27,000 mm (1,062.99 in) and the Y-axis (headstock vertical travel) up to 5,000 mm (196.85 in), depending on configuration. The Z-axis (ram stroke) measures 1500 mm (59.05 in) or 1600 mm (62.99 in), and the W-axis (spindle travel) is 1000 mm (39.37 in). It supports rapid feed rates up to 20,000 mm/min for X and Y axes and 10,000 mm/min for Z and W axes. Control is managed by advanced CNC systems, typically Heidenhain iTNC 530 or Siemens controllers. Built on a stabilized gray cast iron machine bed, the mill is equipped with an automatic tool changer and can handle a maximum table load capacity of up to 80,000 kg (176,370 lb) with optional CNC rotary tables.
