Technical Description
The Fives Cincinnati PMT Vertical Machining Center is a high-performance, modular five-axis gantry machine designed for precision machining of large, complex nonferrous components such as aerospace panels, molds, and composite structures. Built on a rugged rail-type platform, it features an unlimited X-axis range and configurable Y-axis up to 236 inches, with Z-axis travel up to 78.7 inches, enabling adaptation to a wide variety of workpiece sizes. The machine supports a maximum workpiece weight of up to 999,999 lbs and offers a standard table size of 78 x 78 inches, expandable to 99,999 x 157 inches. The vertical spindle utilizes an HSK A63 taper, with a top speed of 24,000 rpm (optional 30,000 rpm) and a 27 hp (30-minute rating) motor, upgradable to 45 hp for demanding applications. The compact dual-axis rotary spindle head provides 220 degrees of A-axis tilt, allowing for versatile five-axis maneuvering. The tooling system supports up to 48 tools with a 24-station tool carrier. All axes deliver rapid traverse and maximum feed rates of 1,572 ipm, ensuring high-speed, high-accuracy machining. The system is compatible with advanced CNC controls and can be equipped with a range of special heads, including waterjet and finishing tools. Designed for high-speed multiprocessing, the PMT excels in milling, drilling, and trimming operations, with options for additional workholding systems, coolant supply, filtration, and debris collection. This machine sets an industry benchmark for large-part, high-precision machining with exceptional throughput and flexibility.
