Technical Description
The Galion 118-C Motor Grader is powered by a robust engine delivering net power between 176 hp and 196 hp (178–199 hp metric) at 1800-2200 rpm, featuring a 4.1-inch bore, 5.3-inch stroke, and a total displacement of 427.8 cu in (7.01 L). Its closed-center, parallel circuit hydraulic system uses a variable piston pump that delivers up to 3503 psi at 2200 rpm with a flow rate range of 0 to 40.9 gallons per minute, enabling precise implement control. The transmission hydraulic system is gear pump-driven, providing clutch supply at 20.6 gal/min with pressure between 232 and 261 psi. The grader offers advanced steering capabilities including a maximum front steering angle of 47.5°, frame steering left/right angles of 20°, front axle lean of 18°, and total oscillation of 32°, allowing excellent maneuverability. It has 10-inch ground clearance at center, and braking is ensured by hydraulic actuated drum-type parking brakes with 226.3 in² lining area, capable of holding on slopes up to 30% grade. The moldboard and blade control features include circle center shift cylinders providing nearly 29 inches shift left and right, side shift cylinders with 26.1 inches left and 20.2 inches right shift, and blade tip cylinder with a maximum forward tip of 40°. The blade circle drive allows full 360° rotation for versatile grading. A rear scarifier with 9 shanks spaced at 9.8 inches covers an 84.1-inch working width with a maximum depth of 11.1 inches. The electrical system operates on a heavy-duty 12V battery with direct electric start, heavy-duty starter, and a standard 115-amp alternator at 24V, with a heavy-duty 150-amp alternator option. Overall machine dimensions and weight are approximately 27 ft 8 in length, 8 ft width, 10 ft 3 in height, and about 30,100 lbs weight, depending on configuration.
