Technical Description
The Galion 850 Motor Grader is a heavy-duty articulated machine powered by a six-cylinder diesel engine delivering 176-196 net horsepower at 1800-2200 rpm, with a displacement of 427.8 cubic inches (7.01 liters). Its closed-center, parallel-circuit hydraulic system features a variable piston pump producing 3,503 psi at 2,200 rpm with flow rates up to 40.9 gallons per minute, complemented by a gear pump transmission hydraulic system supplying 20.6 gal/min at 232-261 psi for precise implement control. The grader offers exceptional steering versatility with a maximum front steering angle of 47.5°, frame steering of 20° in either direction, and front axle lean angles of 18° left and right, providing total oscillation of 32°. The moldboard assembly includes hydraulically controlled circle center shift cylinders (28.7 inches right, 29.6 inches left), side shift cylinders (26.1 inches left, 20.2 inches right), and blade tip cylinders allowing 40° forward and 5° backward positioning with full 360° circle drive rotation. Braking systems include multiple oil disc service brakes with 226.3 square inches of lining area and a hydraulic-actuated drum-type parking brake capable of holding 30% grades. The rear scarifier attachment spans 84.1 inches with nine shanks spaced 9.8 inches apart, achieving maximum scarifying depths of 11.1 inches. Electrical systems include 12-volt heavy-duty batteries with direct electric start, heavy-duty starters, and alternators rated at either 115 amps (standard) or 150 amps (heavy-duty), all rated for 50°C ambient capacity.
