Technical Description
The Gradall XL 4200 III is a high-performance crawler excavator engineered for versatility and efficiency in demanding construction and excavation environments. Powered by a Detroit Diesel OM906 inline 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, this model delivers robust power and reliability. The engine is rated at 153 horsepower (114 kW) at 2200 RPM, with peak torque of 675 Nm (500 ft-lb) available between 1200 and 1600 RPM, ensuring strong performance under heavy loads. The machine features a variable viscous fan clutch system, vertical stacked hydraulic oil cooler, charge air cooler, and radiator for optimal thermal management. With an operating weight of 46,862 lbs (21,256 kg), the XL 4200 III offers excellent stability and traction. Its telescoping boom provides a maximum digging depth of 22.00 feet and a maximum reach along the ground of 31.00 feet, making it suitable for a wide range of excavation tasks. The hydraulic system operates at high pressures—up to 4,900 psi for hoist, tilt, and tool circuits, and 4,200 psi for swing—enabling powerful breakout and lifting capabilities. The excavator is equipped with an electronic monitor in the cab that displays critical operational data, including hydraulic fluid level, temperature, system and pilot pressures, engine RPM, and hours. Additional features include a priority swing circuit with axial piston motor, planetary transmission, and automatic spring-set/hydraulic release wet disc parking brake. The XL 4200 III also offers dual-speed travel control, individual track control for precise maneuvering, and a fuel-saving auto-idle feature. Designed for durability and operator comfort, this excavator is ideal for heavy-duty applications in construction, utility, and infrastructure projects.
