Technical Description

The Handtmann HBZ Trunnion 80 is a high-performance 5-axis horizontal machining center designed for precise and flexible machining of complex parts in aluminum, steel, titanium, and other materials. It features a 31.5" x 31.5" horizontal worktable without additional support rotary or index tables, enabling a work area travel of 33.47" in both X and Y axes and 27.56" in the Z axis, with rapid traverse rates of 1,772 ipm. The machine is equipped with a powerful horizontal spindle available in HSK 63 A taper delivering up to 30,000 RPM with a 21 HP (30-minute rating), and an optional HSK 100 A taper spindle rated up to 209 HP, suitable for high-speed cutting and heavy-duty machining. The tool system supports an automatic tool changer (ATC) with a standard capacity of 38 tools, expandable to 200, enhancing productivity and machining flexibility. Despite lacking a pallet changer, the HBZ Trunnion 80’s rigid construction guarantees excellent surface quality and process stability, supported by high acceleration and travel speeds (up to 1,772 ipm) allowing efficient 5-axis machining of complex geometric parts.
