The Hardinge Inc. T-42 is a precision CNC horizontal turning center engineered for high-volume production and complex multi-axis machining. This machine features a main spindle with 15 HP and 6,000 RPM capability, enabling efficient turning operations on workpieces up to 12.4" in diameter and 14.49" in length, with a maximum bar diameter capacity of 1.63". The machine accommodates a 6" chuck and provides a maximum swing of 27". Equipped with a sub-spindle rated at 15 HP and 6,000 RPM, the T-42 enables simultaneous turning and finishing operations, significantly reducing cycle times. The primary tool carrier features a 16/12 turret configuration with rapid 0.5-second index times, supporting up to 16 turning tools and 16 rotary tools for versatile operations. An 8,000 RPM rotary tool spindle with 7.5 HP provides live tooling capabilities for drilling, tapping, and milling without secondary setups. The machine offers configurable axes with standard 2-axis control and optional 3-axis configurations, with X-axis travel of 6.37", Z-axis travel of 16", and rapid traverse rates up to 945 IPM across all axes. Controlled by a FANUC CNC system, the T-42 delivers precision automation with integrated chip conveyor, coolant system, and automatic lubrication for reliable production environments.
