Technical Description
The Heckert BHC 5500 Horizontal Machining Center is a robust, high-capacity CNC machine designed for heavy-duty horizontal milling operations. It features a large work table measuring 78.8 inches by 98.42 inches, capable of supporting workpieces up to 55,000 lbs, ideal for machining large and heavy components. The machine is equipped with a horizontal spindle featuring an HSK-A100 taper with an optional SK 50 taper, delivering up to 6,000 rpm and powered by a 67 HP motor rated for 30-minute operation, ensuring strong cutting performance.
This machining center employs a 60-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) as standard, with an option to expand tool capacity to 320, enhancing versatility for complex multi-tool machining tasks. A standard pallet changer with two pallets facilitates efficient workpiece loading and unloading, increasing throughput. The machine supports four axes as standard, with an optional fifth axis, providing advanced machining capabilities, including rotary positioning with a full 360-degree B axis.
The axis travels are substantial, with X-axis travel at 216.5 inches, Y-axis travel at 118 inches, and Z-axis travel at 157.4 inches, all capable of rapid traverse rates up to 1,376 inches per minute, maximizing productivity. The B-axis offers full rotational movement at 360 degrees, allowing intricate machining of complex geometries. This combination of large work envelope, high power spindle, extensive tooling capacity, and multi-axis control makes the Heckert BHC 5500 ideal for heavy, precise horizontal machining of large-scale aerospace, automotive, and industrial components.
