The HEID S-500-1 is a horizontal machining center designed for heavy-duty turning and milling operations. It features a main spindle capable of handling a maximum turning diameter of 22.0 inches and a maximum turning length of 168.58 inches, supported by a 15-inch diameter chuck with a maximum swing of 31.5 inches. The spindle operates at up to 2,800 RPM with a robust 71 HP motor, enabling high-power machining. The machine uses a turret-style primary tool carrier, supporting up to 12 turning tools and six rotary tools, with the rotary tools powered by a 20 HP motor running at 2,500 RPM. It supports simultaneous cutting with one tool and operates on a standard 2-axis configuration, optionally upgradeable to 3 axes. The X-axis travel is 17.87 inches, the Y-axis rapid traverse rate is 393 inches per minute (ipm), and the Z-axis travel reaches up to 50.47 inches, extendable to 168.58 inches as an option, with a rapid traverse speed of 393 ipm for both axes.
