A+Technical Description
This vertical machining center features a robust 66" x 30" table capable of supporting workpieces up to 3,000 lbs, designed for heavy-duty applications. The 3-axis configuration provides travels of 60" (X), 30" (Y), and 24" (Z) with rapid traverse rates up to 944 inches per minute, ensuring efficient and precise positioning. The vertical spindle supports CAT 40 and optional BT 40 Big PlusĀ® tapers, optimized for high rigidity and enhanced tool life. The spindle achieves speeds up to 12,000 RPM with a 24 HP rating at 30 minutes, balancing high-speed machining with power. Tool handling is managed via a 40-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) equipped with a swing arm system, enabling efficient tool swaps without a pallet changer. The toolholding system benefits from the BIG-PLUS dual contact spindle design, where both the taper and spindle face contact the tool holder simultaneously. This dual contact significantly increases rigidity, reduces tool deflection, improves surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and extends tool life while enhancing ATC repeatability and minimizing spindle Z-axis movement at high speeds. The machine optionally supports rotary and index tables to expand workholding versatility. The combination of a large work envelope, powerful spindle, high-speed capabilities, and advanced BIG-PLUS tooling technology makes this vertical machining center suitable for demanding milling, drilling, tapping, and boring operations in heavy and precision machining environments.
