Technical Description

The Hyundai WIA HS8000 is a high-rigidity horizontal machining center engineered for heavy-duty, high-speed precision machining. It features a 31.5" x 31.5" table capable of supporting workpieces up to 3,527 lbs. The machine is equipped with a horizontal spindle boasting a Big Plus #50 taper, delivering up to 8,000 RPM as standard with an optional upgrade to 12,000 RPM. The spindle motor provides 30 HP at a 30-minute rating and can be upgraded to 40 HP for increased cutting power. The spindle uses a 2-step gear drive system optimized for heavy cutting tasks. The machine includes a twin-arm automatic tool changer (ATC) supporting 40 tools as standard, expandable optionally to 120 tools, with a rapid tool change time of 3.5 seconds and a chip-to-chip time of 7 seconds. It has three axes (X, Y, Z) with travels of 41.3", 34.4", and 34.4" respectively, each capable of rapid traverse speeds of 1,969 inches per minute (50 m/min), enabled by high-speed linear roller guideways for superior rigidity and vibration absorption. An optional fourth axis can be integrated for more complex machining. The robust box-type bed design enhances stability and vibration dampening, centralizing the Z-axis transfer system to improve uniformity and precision. Its advanced chip disposal directly funnels chips onto a conveyor for efficient waste management during heavy machining cycles.
