Technical Description

The INDEX TRAUB MS32-6 is a high-performance horizontal multi-spindle automatic lathe engineered for precision and productivity in complex part manufacturing. Featuring six main spindles with a maximum bar diameter capacity of 1.260" (32 mm), the machine supports a maximum turning diameter and swing of 1.260" and a turning length of 4.000". Each main spindle delivers up to 8,000 rpm and 15 hp (optionally 20 hp), ensuring rapid material removal and excellent surface finishes. The MS32-6 is equipped with up to 12 tool carriers, allowing for a combination of up to 12 turning and 12 rotary tools, with the ability to use up to four tools simultaneously for enhanced efficiency. The machine utilizes a flexible tool slide platform with front and back slide carriers, supporting X, Z, and optional Y-axis configurations for versatile machining operations such as off-center drilling, threading, contouring, hobbing, and polygonal turning. The fluid-cooled spindle drum enables independent spindle speed control, optimizing cutting parameters for each process. The system can be equipped with one or two synchronous spindles for rear-end machining, each capable of applying up to six tools. Advanced features include a quick-clamping system with W-serration toolholder alignment for rapid setup and reduced changeover times, as well as an iXpanel operating system with 18.5" touchscreen and Siemens S840D control for seamless operation and connectivity. The MS32-6 is designed for high dynamic response, minimal downtime, and maximum flexibility in demanding production environments.
