Technical Description
The J&M TN460A Manual Lathe is a robust bench lathe engineered for precision and versatility in metalworking applications. Featuring a substantial swing over bed of 18.11 inches (460 mm), it accommodates large workpieces with ease, while the swing over cross slide measures 11.42 inches (290 mm), allowing for efficient turning operations. The lathe is equipped with a generous spindle bore diameter of 3.15 inches (80 mm), supporting long bar stock and enabling a wide range of machining tasks. The spindle offers 12 speed steps with a range of 25–1800 RPM, providing optimal control for various materials and cutting conditions. The machine’s cross feed range is 0.03–1.23 mm/rev, and the longitudinal feed range is 0.04–2.46 mm/rev, ensuring fine surface finishes and accurate dimensional control. The TN460A supports both metric and inch threading, with a range of 1-5/8 to 72 T.P.I. The tailstock quill travel is 130 mm, and the quill diameter is 75 mm, with a taper of MT5 for secure tool holding. The lathe is powered by a 5.5 kW main motor, delivering ample torque for heavy-duty cutting. Standard features include a D1-8 spindle nose, MT7 spindle bore taper, one-piece casting stand for rigidity, and a comprehensive accessory package such as a 4-jaw chuck, face plate, steady rest, follow rest, chuck guard, tool post cover, splash guard, digital readout system, taper turning attachment, halogen work lamp, toolbox, coolant system, foot brake, and five-position carriage stop. The TN460A is designed for durability, accuracy, and operator safety, making it a reliable choice for demanding workshop environments.
